Self-Representation
We have many services to help you do-it-yourself for an uncontested
matter (also called self-representation or "pro se").
Our service ranges from forms and books to clerk assistance
with forms or unbundled attorney assistance (coaching and consulting)
and flat fee services. You can also use a combination of our
services to best suit your needs.
Self Represented / Pro Se Divorce or Family Matter
For an uncontested matter, avoid the hassle of attempting to
wade through the process and forms for divorce by using our
clerk services for divorce. This is a full-service package including
assistance with completion of the forms and filing the forms
for you at the courthouse. This service makes the divorce process
go smoothly even if you have all issues agreed-upon for your
divorce. Please call us for pricing and to make an appointment
to get started. We are able to assist you over the phone and
through the mail if needed.
If you would like to meet with an attorney to go over all of your concerns as you proceed through the divorce process, please call our office to make an appointment. You can still use the pro se service described above, but add on the consult time with the attorney. You can choose your level of service from a one-time consultation to mediation, or full legal representation.
Do-it-Yourself Small Business Start-Up
We can take the hassle out of setting up a Limited Liability
Company or S-Corporation and give you advice and tips on pitfalls
to avoid as you start your new business, including setting up
a federal EIN number, all for one low flat fee. If you need
an Operating Agreement or Partnership Agreement, we can provide
that service as well for a flat fee or hourly service. To complete
these forms on your own without any legal advice, go to www.wdfi.org
and www.irs.gov
and you may also need to go to www.dor.state.wi.us.
Legal Coaching or Consulting (Also called "Unbundled" legal services)
In our easy-access, friendly, comfortable setting, you can consult
with an attorney one time or hire a lawyer to represent you
- it's your choice. Our legal coaching and counseling is not
offered by the majority of other law firms. It is a great way
to be involved in your legal matter whether your just starting
out or already working with an attorney. A legal coach helps
to empower you with understanding and knowledge about your matter.
If you decide your legal matter is too much for your to handle,
we offer full legal services as well. Either way, we will explain
the legal options available to you, including where to turn
for non-legal services. Our attorney coaching services include
reviewing documents, drafting motions, answers, drafting or
responding to interrogatories, preparing exhibits for trial,
preparing for mediation, discovery, etc. If we do not handle
a case in a particular area of law, we will try to refer you
to a legal coach who will be able to assist you. Also see our
Unbundled
page for more information.
Mediation
Mediation is a great way to reduce legal fees and settle matters
quickly. Both parties must agree to participate in mediation,
and do NOT need to have agreements in order to do mediation.
The attorney mediator assists the parties in reaching an agreement
including suggesting alternative ideas that may meet both parties
needs. A mediator does not represent either party and cannot
mediate any dispute where one party has been represented by
that mediator (or law firm). See our Client
Services page for more information.
If you would like to pursue mediation as an option, please contact us in person. We can take care of speaking to the other party and attorneys to find out if they are willing to participate.
